Discrimination against girls starts from the womb. In every sphere of life , girls faces discrimination in equal treatment in terms of education, social participation, and decision making . this discrimination started from the eve of the human civilization . during eighteenth century girls were burred alive just after their birth. this scenario did not change much in twenty first century only taken a new face . people takes the advantage of the technology , gender identification through crystallography results in abortion of girl child at the embryo stage. Those who are a bit fortunate ad get rid of the abortion, they face discrimination from their birth. Muslims announces the birth of boy through ‘Azana’ and Hindus through ‘Sanka’, whereas there is no such ritual when a girl child born. girl child some times bring depression in the family.
A boy child gets more attention in the family than the girl regarding food distribution, education, dresses etc. nobody wants to admit a girl as wise and educated. an educated boy always praised whereas an educated girls some times face violence and identified as witch. girl and boy of same age face different social reality. when a boy enjoy his childhood , the girls have to carry many family responsibilities, sometime they become victim of child marriage. she even sometime cannot continue her education. in the under developed and developing countries girls sometime cannot move alone due to social and religious rules and regulations.Young girls face various social hazards like eve teasing, molestation and rape, which make girls introvert .
Due to the lack of awareness, male dominated society and superstitions makes women sociology-economically dependent on men. They are not allowed to take any decision related to their physical and psychological consequences. this male dominated society controls women through different forms of exploitation. Men provides the key of the house holds , and all the responsibilities of family comes on the women for the sake of love. beauty of women is paused and then commercially used in the advertisements.
This discrimination is not acceptable, because both men and women are human being. people does not born with discrimination . discrimination created by the society. But ,except the physical differences are equally capable intellectually and psychologically. so men and women should have equal rights for the basic amenities of the life . There should not be any discrimination in accessing human rights .
Poverty rate is high in the developing countries. One of the major problem of these families is space constraints. one family have to live in one room so privacy becomes a concern in these families. The family have to continue their day to day life in this one room which includes the very common physical act of human. as they are living in one room so sometimes children observe their parents physical activities and try experiment the same act within their friend circle without having any idea about what this really is . this true for both boys and girls but the girls have to take responsibilities of consequences of such experiments . most of the cases they together punishment which some time become a nightmare.
Voice of the girl child is often not heard by the family members , instead they are forced by families to be quiet. even their emotions are not valued by the society. it is often forgotten that women are the first step of the civilization, men cannot alone continue the civilization far. If we want to develop and achieve more man and woman need to work together for greater social achievement. Neither fighting with the men nor go without men , the major need is a equal society where men and women will have equal position and recognition.
The movement for women empowerment is going on for decades , though the girls of this century enjoy a open sky of freedom still, the basic thinking behind the women empowerment is male dominated . people thinks that if the girls become educated she will get a better groom. marriage is still the ultimate socially determined destiny for the girls. if the families as well as the girls themselves can realize that marriage is not the ultimate destiny, this may will help to reduce the discrimination. However the men need to be aware first. the mutual respect and understanding between men and women will ease the fight of getting a equal society. (Translate by Yasir Aziz)
